Physiotherapy laser, or light amplification with stimulated emission of radiation, finds application in physiοtherapy and includes two different types of devices. Physiotherapy laser devices are divided into two categories, those include low-level and high-level therapy laser devices. The high-level therapy laser (laser HLLT) allows the physical therapist to choose the wavelength they want to apply. On the other hand, low-level laser therapy (laser LLLT) does not allow wavelength selection, it uses specific wavelengths to relieve pain.

The non-thermal photons of light emitted by the physical therapy laser pass through the layers of the skin.
