Sorbalgon is a soft gelling calcium alginate dressing, composed of soft, textile fibres of calcium alginate. Made in Germany by Hartmann.

The calcium alginate wound dressing with excellent conformability. Sorbalgon is a soft gelling calcium alginate wound dressing, composed of soft, textile fibres of calcium alginate. When it comes into contact with wound exudate Sorbalgon forms a gel by exchanging calcium ions the wound dressing for sodium ions from the exudate.

Sorbalgon is highly absorbent and suitable for use on moderate to highly exuding wounds. - Sorbalgon has excellent dry and wet integrity Contraindications: Wounds with nil or low exudate.

Description
Sorbalgon is made of calcium alginate fibers which form a hydrophilic non-adherent gel in contact with the sodium salts contained in blood and wound exudate. The gel-forming properties promote the wound healing process.

Uses
Basically for the treatment of external wounds of any type, but especially suitable for the treatment of bleeding and exudating wounds, since the gel-forming properties promote the wound healing process as e.g. in Ulcus cruris venosum, decubitus, abscesses, furuncles, burns and for difficult-to-treat wounds in accident or tumour surgery; for deep wounds and fistula passages is Sorbalgon T available.

The wound dressings are available in 2 different sizes for a need-based and economical use.
