The pediatric Nonin 8000SM 6836-000 soft oximetry sensor is a versatile finger sensor that offers flexibility and accurate SpO2 measurements. It provides comfort to the patient and optimal distribution of pressure on the finger, with stable results even when the perfusion in the area is low. Pediatric Nonin 8000SM 6836-000 soft oximetry sensor uses the specially designed PureLight® sensor that produces a high intensity spectrum of clear light that eliminates changes in patient-to-patient measurements, giving even more accurate results.

LED infrared light sources are responsible for measuring oxygenated or non-oxygenated hemoglobin and light emission is important for the effective measurement of SpO2. Common red LED light produces a secondary emission spectrum (contamination), which affects the measurement and calibration curve of the oximeter resulting in inaccurate SpO2 readings below 80%. PureLight® red light produces only the bright light spectrum, which does not cause the oximeter calibration curve to shift below SpO2 levels below 80%.
