It provides comfort to the patient and optimal distribution of pressure on the finger, with stable results even when the perfusion in the area is low. Pediatric Nonin 8000SM 6836-000 soft oximetry sensor uses the specially designed PureLight® sensor that produces a high intensity spectrum of clear light that eliminates changes in patient-to-patient measurements, giving even more accurate results.
LED infrared light sources are responsible for measuring oxygenated or non-oxygenated hemoglobin and light emission is important for the effective measurement of SpO2. Common red LED light produces a secondary emission spectrum (contamination), which affects the measurement and calibration curve of the oximeter resulting in inaccurate SpO2 readings below 80%. PureLight® red light produces only the bright light spectrum, which does not cause the oximeter calibration curve to shift below SpO2 levels below 80%.
