The importance of a patient’s calm and positive psychological attitude is recognised as one of the key factors for good results for the rescue and transport.
Consequently the stretcher must, where possible, lose its mechanical connotations and become a close and helpful object, more of a partner rather than a hostile device employed by the necessity of the moment or infirmity.
The Spencer team, manufacturers of rescue and patient transport devices, has dedicated special attention to the relationship between the patient and the stretcher, the patient and the operator and the operator and the stretcher.
Everything in order to realise an ergonomically viable product even in uncomfortable physical, psychological and environmental conditions, achieving success even in the most intense operative situations.
Cross secret lies in the Space Frame concept, which through the welding of special tube, made of stainless steel and aluminium, produces a truly innovative structure, not only in shape and functionality, but also and above all in the intrinsic technological contents and in the research of space usually unused.
We have also tried to give these stretchers an aesthetic and distinctive look. The possibility to have a vast choice of colours increases the possibility of linking/combination, to which special customisations can be added for adequate quantities. The Cross stretcher is supplied with two straps model STX 702.

This mechanism permits the adaptation of the stretcher to the needs of the rescue operation. In order to make getting on and off easier in the case of walking patients or for the elderly, it is sufficient to put the Cross into the inclined position. When transferring the patient there is the possibility to adjust the stretcher into an intermediate height, modifying at the same time the inclination of the posterior legs, therefore ensuring that the operators do not strain any muscles in transferring the patient from the bed to the stretcher or vice versa.
Loading levels
The variation of the height of the trolley in relation to the different loading levels of the ambulance is possible thanks to:
- a loading trolley with six different heights, extremely easy to adjust without requiring specialised technicians
- a patented system of geometrically variable runners, that guarantee an optimum sliding angle during loading and also maintaining level once the ambulance
Patient Zone
In areas where the patient assistance becomes critical both in therapeutic terms and in transfer terms, the frame has been modelled to consent more comfortable and effective operations.
Shortening
If necessary the Cross can be shortened to guarantee good manageability in limited spaces or small lifts. The trolley system at the front can rotate upwards (automatic blocking system), acting hence as a bumper to protect the patient from bumps when the stretcher hits a wall, or moves downwards.
Back saving
Each time the stretcher is put into the ambulance or on the ground the wheels rest in a space in the frame, thanks to an elementary mechanism: another way of avoiding strain.
Stability
An excellent distribution of the weight, guaranteed by an advanced geometry and welded chassis, which gives the Cross absolute stability.
