Cosmopor Antibacterial with integrated silver layer

Cosmopor Antibacterial is a sterile, adhesive wound dressing containing silver, which provides additional infection prophylaxis.
Cosmopor Antibacterial has an additional layer of silver which is located between the transfer layer and the absorption layer.
It releases silver ions within the wound pad, when activated by the moist environment. Laboratory tests show that the silver ions destroy bacteria in the wound pad, and thus minimize the risk of infection.

Cosmopor Antibacterial is ideally suitable for the treatment of postoperative and acute wounds, that require a high level of protection and infection prophylaxis.
The highly absorbent wound pad quickly absorbs excess exudate and thus withdraws the culture medium required for the growth of bacteria. The new DryBarrier Technology makes sure that any absorbed fluid is stored permanently in the absorption layer and rewetting is minimized – even under pressure. The carrier material is consists of non-woven fabric, and is permeable to air and water vapour. In addition, the thick wound pad provides a good cushioning effect, which enhances the wearing comfort of Cosmopor Antibacterial.
 

1. Wound contact layer: The fine-meshed wound contact layer prevents sticking to the wound. 
2. Transfer layer: The transfer layer transfers the exudate without residue. 
3. Silver layer: The bacteria are destroyed by silver ions contained within the wound pad, which are activated by the moist environment 
4. Absorption layer: The exudate is stored permanently in the absorption layer
