Arrow EZ-IO intraosseous vascular access device

The Arrow EZ-IO intraosseous vascular access device provides immediate access to the intraosseous route for cases of developmental venous anomalies (DVA) that are urgent or medically necessary, such as cardiac, shock, respiratory and neurological emergencies.

Moreover, it is ideal for rapid access in patients with difficult vascular access.

The Arrow EZ-IO system of the TELEFLEX group consists of a lightweight mechanical device with a built-in lithium battery and a set of intraosseous needles. The system ensures rapid and atraumatic insertion of the intraosseous needle into human bone (femur, tibia or humerus) in cases where conventional intravenous access is difficult or impossible.

Three types of intraosseous needles are available:

• 15mm needle for use in patients 3-39kg or patients with minimal muscle mass at the needle insertion site
• 25mm needle for use in patients over 39kg or lighter patients with more tissue at the needle insertion site
• 45mm needle for use in patients over 39kg with more tissue at the needle insertion site (due to obesity, oedema or more muscle mass)

Placement is achieved with extreme ease and precision at the selected puncture site, providing the ability to deliver fluids, drugs or blood to the central vascular system in a matter of seconds.

Technical features of intraosseous needles:

• They are disposable in sterile packaging, free of pyrogen and latex, inside a personal protective case.
• The material of construction is 304 stainless steel.
• They are clearly marked every 5 mm to confirm/check the insertion depth.
• They have a magnetic contact on their connection socket with the mechanical handheld device (EZ-IO Vascular Access Power Driver), facilitating the user when connecting/disconnecting it.

Each intraosseous needle consists of the needle through which the trocar stylet passes with a diagonal cutting tip that ensures easy and fully atraumatic placement in the bone.
