Lugol Topical Solution 100ml

Lugol Topical Solution 100ml is a solution of elemental iodine and potassium iodide in water used as an antiseptic and disinfectant, for emergency disinfection of drinking water, and as a reagent for starch detection in routine laboratory and medical examinations. Dosage 1-2 drops daily dissolved in a glass of water. The concentration of active iodine per drop is equal to 0.0002 grams.

Lugol Topical Solution is used both for the treatment of the active thyroid and for the protection of the thyroid gland from radiation from radioactive forms of iodine.

For main use in vaginal examinations in which the iodine solution is applied to the cervix or the vaginal area with a swab in order to diagnose cervical cancer. Often referred to as the "Schiller Test". Lugol solution stains diseased tissue and shows abnormal cells, but also indicates possible sites for biopsy or treatment, browns normal tissue with a high glycogen content, while the dreaded tissue remains pale due to lack of glycogen.
