Cardiotocograph

Cardiotocographs are medical devices specifically designed to measure and record fetal heart rate, and uterine contractions and detect fetal movement. The electronic fetal monitor (cardiotocograph) consists of two ultrasound probes, which detect uterine contractions by indirectly measuring the intrauterine pressure and the fetal heart rate & the printer, which records FHR & TOCO traces.

This test is called a cardiotocography or "CTG" and is used during pregnancy to record fetal heart function and uterine contractions. It mainly concerns the third trimester of pregnancy and its purpose is to confirm normal fetal function and to detect fetal distress in time. CTG helps to assess the condition of the fetus, detects signs of fetal distress, determines the uterine tone and the presence of contractions, etc.

CTG machines from brands such as Edan Instruments and Carefusion offer flexible measurements, ergonomic design, and easy use.
